The ability to prioritize tasks is a core skill of top performers.
But when there are too many different priorities, it can be difficult to determine what to do first.
Too many options lead to mental overwhelm. This is called the “paradox of choice” and was first studied by psychologist Barry Schwartz.
Here are 2 useful tools for managing priorities:
1. Binary comparison.
Because the brain prefers binary decisions, it is best to compare only two options at a time and prioritize that way.
2. The Eisenhower Matrix.
Look at each task and ask yourself two questions: (1) How urgent is this? (2) How important is this?
What's your best tip for prioritizing?
