What is supply chain management?
The term supply chain is a connected network of individuals, organizations, resources, activities and technologies involved in the production and sale of a product or service. Companies develop supply chains so they can reduce costs and remain competitive in the business landscape.

What are the phases of Supply Chain Management?
A total of five phases formulate a strategy for supply chain management. You will now discover them in brief:

Planning Operational Strategy: In this phase, the main focus is on designing a strategy that will maximize profits.

Sourcing: After planning, the next phase is development or sourcing. In this phase you are mainly concerned with developing strong relationships with raw material suppliers.

Production (making): The products are created, manufactured, tested, packaged and synchronized for delivery in this step. The supply chain managers are in charge of arranging all production, testing, packaging and delivery preparation activities.

Delivery: This phase involves the sale of products and the distribution of products across all stores. It is a logistics phase in which consumer orders are approved and product delivery is initiated.

Returns: In this final phase, the return of defective or damaged products is checked by consumers. This level of the supply chain is often a source of contention for many companies. Supply chain planners must design a responsive and adaptable network for receiving damaged, defective and extra items from consumers and expediting the returns process for customers involved in delivered products.
