Energy policy has become a controversial issue in Taiwan. Amid the summer heat, occasional power outages cause public unrest. Meanwhile, Taipei continues to implement the past decade's policy of switching Taiwan's energy production from coal and nuclear power to liquefied natural gas (LNG) and renewable energy sources such as solar, hydroelectric and wind power. Although renewable energy sources are boosting Taiwan's ability to generate electricity domestically, the island — which is about the size of Maryland — remains largely dependent on imported coal, LNG and nuclear materials.

Join Hudson as a panel of experts discuss the current state of Taiwan's energy transition and how the island's energy mix could change in the coming years.
