Model year 2007 met the emission requirements on all light diesels thanks to the use of a particulate filter. This was used with a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC). In 2011, Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) was launched
In this webinar, Tony Salas, instructor, discusses the use of the DPF and SCR. NOX emissions and particulate matter are of concern, but their effects will be discussed. Salas will continue to address the problems that occur with these systems on the big three.
Diagnostic trouble codes are displayed if there is a derating or just a message on the dashboard. Much emphasis will be placed on the way NOx is created, but also how it is monitored by an ECM/PCM. The operation of DEF fluid (reductant) will also be instructed.
He will have case studies on GM Duramax, Ford Powerstroke and RAM Cummins applications.
