What is better for you: TextNow Wireless or TextFree? I tested both! Let's take a look at the differences and which services like this are best to use in this TextNow MVNO Review vs TextFree app Review!

The TextNow app and the TextFree app give you a free US phone number (usually with your area code of choice) and are completely free to use, but there are some drawbacks. First, both Text Now and the TextFree app require an internet connection for messaging and voice calls. In fact, one of the biggest differences between the apps is that TextNow Wireless will send you a free Nationwide Talk and Test SIM card that does provide messaging and voice access over the T-Mobile network (like a true T-Mobile MVNO), so you can use it (mostly) like a traditional wireless phone plan. TextFree offers no such thing.

Both the TextNow app and wireless TextFree are generally (heavily) ad-supported, but since Text Now can operate more like a traditional carrier, they also sell data plans. The TextFree app takes a different approach and doesn't offer unlimited calling: you either have to pay for more minutes or use another app to watch ads, download apps, etc. Both offer plans of around 9.99 per month that allow ads be deleted, locked in your number, and a few other things, but please don't pay for that. There are much better, cheaper options from a number of other carriers such as Mint Mobile, Tello, Red Pocket and US Mobile.
