Dr. Cynthia Calongne / Lyr Lobo discusses The Power of Creation: Learning Strategies from 3D Worlds

Welcome to a joint session of the VWMOOC24 and the Nonprofit Commons.

The 10th annual Second Life MOOC (renamed Virtual World MOOC in 2018) launched in 2014. VWMOOC24 will take place from August 1-31, 2024 on Moodle for Teachers https://integrating-technology.org/course/view.php? ID=114.

The theme of the current MOOC is 'Connecting in Virtual Worlds. Communities of Practice” There are an abundance of communities in virtual worlds that promote education and learning by connecting online through web technologies such as Second Life. The MOOC will focus on online connection for collaborative learning and teaching in virtual worlds such as Second Life, Digiworldz, Kitely, Minecraft, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (VR), Virtual Reality (VR) or OpenSim.

The MOOC and the live online classes are organized and coordinated by Dr. Nellie Deutsch, Dr. Doris Molero, Dr. Nancy Zingrone and Dr. Valerie Hill. For more information and support, please contact the organizers.

VWMOOC24 is intended for teachers, schools and public and private companies that want to provide training in virtual worlds. Weekly badges and a final certificate of completion are available for free.

There will be 3 learning platforms: Integrating Technology and VMMOOC Headquarters http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Chilbo/167/53/97 and ZOOM.

We also have an exhibition with different presentations where participants can view the slides and get information from each of the presenters.

You will receive ongoing support from the MOOC organizers every week. Participants can ask questions in advance and during the entire MOOC in the MOOC area Integrating Technology VWMOOC24. The live online classes are recorded for future reference, so don't worry if you can't attend or want to watch the content.

The workload for the MOOC includes participating in or viewing the recordings of the live session and developing a reflective artifact in the form of a book using Book Creator.

Highlights of the course
1. Experience life in virtual worlds
2. Get to know learning communities in SL and other virtual worlds.
3. Professional development in virtual worlds

Participants who reflect on 8 live sessions or the recordings of the sessions (two per week) are eligible to receive a certificate of completion. The submission date for the reflections is October 1, 2024.
