ABOUT THIS VIDEO
In this short video, John talks about three language learning apps you can use instead of Duolingo. If you're looking to learn a new language like Spanish, French, Italian, or German, chances are you've heard of Duolingo, as it's the most popular free language learning app. However, Duolingo can only take you so far. If you really want to become fluent in another language, such as Russian, Chinese or Portuguese, you will probably need to supplement your studies with another language program or course. In these cases, John recommends Babbel, Rocket Languages, and Memrise, each for different reasons. Babbel is similar to Duolingo in several ways, but is also more robust in terms of grammar instruction and verbal practice. Likewise, John thinks Rocket Languages is much better than Duolingo when it comes to developing your conversation skills. Finally, John thinks Memrise is a good option for visual learners because their lessons include video clips from native speakers. Good luck learning a new language!
