I don't know why it took me so long to figure it out, but here's a little trick I use to accomplish my daily tasks:

I timeblock in tasks that I need to do with a customer code and project or task name.

During the day I move things around and record how I actually spend my time.

I set up a few different calendars and categorized tasks by type: business tasks, client meetings, events, health, etc. All the calendars have their own colors so I can quickly get an overview of my tasks for the day.

In any case, I hope this helps someone else with the way they plan their day and week as a freelancer.
