In this video, we answer a question from Easy Fun Money, who recently completed the 10 Test Plus certification and is now looking for recommendations on good conferences to attend for in-person learning and networking opportunities. We have some excellent options for you!

First of all, one of the most well-known conferences is Black Hat, which holds three conferences per year. They are usually held in Europe (London or France), Asia (Singapore, South Korea or Japan) and the US (Las Vegas) during the first or second week of August. Keep in mind that Black Hat is more focused on businesses and can be quite expensive, but it offers valuable insights into the industry.

Another highly recommended conference is Defcon, which takes place right after Black Hat in Las Vegas. Defcon is known for attracting real hackers and providing a more affordable and exciting experience. The cost to attend is around $300 and it is a cash only event to ensure privacy and anonymity.

For those looking to network with large companies and make professional connections, consider the RSA Conference in San Francisco. RSA is known for its contributions to digital signatures and hosts a security conference that attracts major players in the industry.

If you prefer a more localized and cost-effective option, BSides conferences are held in various cities across the U.S., including New York, Baltimore, Orlando, and Las Vegas. These events are typically inexpensive, ranging from $20 to $40 per day, and provide valuable content and networking opportunities.

Finally, we recommend checking out John Strand’s conference hosted by Black Hills Security called Wild West Hacking. This conference is held in either San Diego or Deadwood, North Dakota/South Dakota. It offers a unique and highly regarded experience, with great networking opportunities and positive reviews from attendees.

These conferences are just a few of the many options available, but they are among the best choices for learning, networking, and immersing yourself in the cybersecurity community. Be sure to research the location, dates, and specific focus areas of each conference to determine which one best suits your interests and goals.
