I've been working with an iiNet VOIP Bizphone in the home office and I found it almost impossible to connect the VOIP phone to the modem because the distance was too far. I also don't want too many cables hanging everywhere. So I found a solution to connect the VOIP phone to my desktop's ethernet port and share the PC's internet connection.
When the PC is on, the VOIP phone goes online.
Here are the simple steps:
1. Connect an Ethernet cable between your VOIP phone and your PC
2. Make sure the PC is connected to the Internet via WIFI
3. Go to Network Connections and set up Sharing
4. Set DNS to 192.168.137.1

Now the VOIP phone must be connected to the Internet.

If you're having trouble, try turning sharing on and off. For me it always solves the problem.
