Leading a high-participation tour is one of the best ways to keep your guests engaged and interested. This week's guide training from Be a Better Guide: how to make tours more interactive.

Keeping your group's attention is one of your biggest challenges as a tour guide, tour guide or tour guide. On any given tour, the guide will do most of the talking, so it's especially important to think of creative ways to engage your audience.

You should never treat your tour like a lecture and even the most powerful and interesting guides in the world will always benefit from some interactivity and group participation. In this week's guide training, I share some of my favorite touring experiences and the creative ways they engaged those of us on tour.

These insights come from a tour guide in the Netherlands, a nature walk in the Galapagos and a beetle-munching septuagenarian in a cultural center in rural Vietnam. And don't worry: there are photos of all three!

As you know, I absolutely love the idea of tour guides from all corners of the world coming together and sharing their best practices. After watching the video, please share your most memorable tour experiences in the comments below so we can all get better at creating fun, interactive tours!
