Supercomputing for Everyone Series 2019: Seminar series on augmented, virtual and extended reality at Indiana University.
This weekly series highlighted a variety of topics for discussion regarding virtual reality as it existed in 2019 and its utility as a tool in education and other contexts. Discussions covered the overarching concepts of virtual reality with a primary focus on using virtual reality to work toward a goal. Speakers included domain experts such as Laura Shackelford and John Stone, along with technology and content experts from the Advanced Visualization Lab and the Cyberinfrastructure for Digital Humanities & Creative Activities group. Topics included the medium of VR and interface issues as they relate to specific styles of hardware, along with areas where VR has been applied as a tool for learning, training, science, and evaluation. Some of the technologies used in creating new VR experiences in these and other disciplines were also explored.

The seminar series was presented by Bill Sherman, senior technical advisor at the Advanced Visualization Lab, Research Technologies, a division of University Information Technology Services and a center of the Pervasive Technology Institute at Indiana University.
The Supercomputing for Everyone Series (S4ES) of training workshops aims to introduce more users to advanced computing, whether in visualization, computation, analytics, storage, or a related discipline.
