Presented by Chauncey Frend. Virtual Reality has come a long way in recent years and is now in the hands of more users and producers who are embracing the growing medium. The UITS Advanced Visualization Lab presented this series on how the medium of virtual reality has proven useful in fields ranging from education and learning to training, science, design and evaluation.

Supercomputing for Everyone Series 2019: Seminar series on augmented, virtual and extended reality at Indiana University.

This weekly series highlighted a variety of topics for discussion regarding virtual reality as it existed in 2019 and its utility as a tool in education and other contexts. Discussions covered the overarching concepts of virtual reality with a primary focus on using virtual reality to work toward a goal. Speakers included domain experts such as Laura Shackelford and John Stone, along with technology and content experts from the Advanced Visualization Lab and the Cyberinfrastructure for Digital Humanities & Creative Activities group. Topics included the medium of VR and interface issues as they relate to specific styles of hardware, along with areas where VR has been applied as a tool for learning, training, science, and evaluation. Some of the technologies used in creating new VR experiences in these and other disciplines were also explored.
