Driving a Zoox car is boring, and that's just how the company likes it. Every time a rider says they've had a boring ride, Zoox knows it's one step closer to bringing fully autonomous vehicle transportation to the masses.

Oh, and don't call it a car.

“This is not a car,” says Jesse Levinson, co-founder and CTO at Zoox. “The fact that you can't drive a Zoox vehicle yourself, that it doesn't have manual controls, we think sets it apart from what people traditionally call cars.”

In fact, Zoox considers its vehicles an antidote to cars. If Zoox has its way, no one will own a car in the future. Instead, people will use the fleet of fully autonomous vehicles available on demand.

Car ownership could become obsolete and instead become a safer, greener and more reliable form of vehicle transportation.
