Virtualization is essentially creating a “pretend” computer within a physical computer. Imagine a hardware box with an operating system. In this box you install software called a hypervisor, which allows you to create virtual hardware boxes, also called virtual machines (VMs).

These VMs appear as normal computers to the operating system and the software running on it. The great thing about virtualization is that you can run multiple VMs on one physical computer, each with its own operating system and applications. This is a common practice in modern server environments, allowing efficient use of resources and cost savings.
